About Us

Deer Friends Reindeer Hire based in Barkham, Berkshire, was established in 2023. We offer reindeer hire, specialising in school visits and other public events. At Deer Friends Reindeer Hire we are home to 4 fabulous male reindeer. Atlantic, Glacier, Iceberg and Riptide. Our reindeer are domestic reindeer which means the generations before them have been raised, farmed and kept by people. We like to describe them as 'the nordic cow'. This means our reindeer are friendly thanks to their nature and the amount of time we spend bonding with them.

If none of us can be found, it's usually because we are hiding in the stables having a snuggle. Although we are a young company, we (humans and reindeer) are by no means novices when it come to reindeer and attending events. Our team is lead by Melisa, owner of Deer Friends, who has 15+ years of animal experience with 7+ years experience managing a larger herd of reindeer, conducting visits and working with and training other reindeer for their owners. When the opportunity to offer a home to some of the animals we loved so dearly came around... Well... It was a no brainer!

We have witnessed first hand time and time again the magic reindeer bring to people of all ages. 80 years of age or 3 years of age, reindeer never fail to put a smile of your face. We know as we are some of the lucky few who get to experience this every day.
